Should I invest in a Sniper set-up or something else with my Mosin M44?
Hey everyone!
I ran in to a M91/30 Mosin-Nagant awhile ago. It was rusty, srcatched, stained, etc. and I remembered it from a game I played a while ago, Call Of Duty Finest Hour. I wanted to refurbish it, but I have no experiance with refurbishing, nor did I have the time or the money. So I purchased another Mosin-Nagnat, the M44 model, and it came with an attached bayonett, 40 7.62x54r rounds, firing pin key/screwdriver, and the Oil can thing.
So I wanted to know anyone's opinion on whether I should invest on a scope (if I get one, it will be a period [WWII] sniper scope)mount, etc. or if i should just leave it as it is and buy like, stripper clips or something.

I wouldn't scope it either. The m44 was never meant to be a sniper rifle. They can be pretty accurate with open sights. It might take you a little practice, but it won't be long, and you'll be able to outshoot most guys at the range, and you'll be doing it with open sights. Here's a link you'll find interesting. They are neat little carbines. Just another quick pointer, they were designed to be shot with the bayonet in the extended position. Most people report smaller groups and the rifle will shoot to point of aim. If you fold the bayonet, well, it's anybody's guess. Be sure to properly clean it if you are shooting corrosive ammo. One last idea, if you are dying to spend a few bucks on your m44, save a few and buy another. That's what the rest of us did.
