Swarovski Optik Z5 Riflescope

which is more effective?

Yeah, I'm wanting to buy a new optic for next year's deer season, and I cant really tell which one would be more effective... A red dot sight, or A 6x zoom scope, Both from Bass Pro. The red dot sight is the Trijicon® ACOG®, and the 6x scope is the Swarovski® Optic Z6i, If any one knows how to understand the descriptions of the two and know which is better, Please let me know so i can buy it and start learning off it. Thanks

Honestly, you would be wasting your money buying either one of those.

The red dot scope is a bad choice for deer hunting simply for the reason that red dot scopes aren't meant for long range shooting at game animals. They were designed for close combat situations and target practice at 50 yards or less.

A variable power scope would be a much better choice, however Swarovski is one of the most expensive scopes on the market. Basically you would be dumping $1,500 plus dollars on a scope that will not help you kill deer any better than a $300 Leopold will. Out to 400 yards the Leupold will do just fine for deer hunting. Any farther than that you had better be an expert marksman to even think of trying to shoot a deer.

Swarovski is what the richest of the rich purchase mainly for bragging rights. They are good but not that good.

Any 3-9X32 to 4-12X40 scope in the $150 to $300 price range will work fine for deer hunting.
