How do you use a Eotech red dot sight? Do you align the dot with the front iron sight of the rifle?
Might seem like a dumb question, but have never asked....considering getting one for my Sig 522
Once it is sighted in you simply put the dot wherever you want to hit. Since there is no magnification (unless you add it) this works with your eye at any angle or distance unlike a scope. Some people choose to co-witness their red dot with their front site, either lining it up with it or placing the dot just above the front site but a front site is not required -- often a folding one used so the front site can be folded out of the way so that you can get a clear field of view all around the dot.
