Hi people, I have an interview tomorrow morning and would really like you guys to help me out with these ?

questions, thanks

What is the difference between a white and a red wine glass?
How would you serve a gin and tonic?
What is the volume of a single shot of spirits?
Why is it important to regularly clean the pipes and optics?
Thanks guys, hope you can help

Man, I hate this subject. Back in the day we only had 1 kind of wine glass.

Anyway, some answers I'm seeing are correct: yes, red wine glasses are generally larger than white wine glasses. But now, unfortunately, now we've evolved. Most red wines are served in a larger wine glass called a Magnum glass, the glass is designed to direct the wine to the back of the drinker's mouth (in theory), and this glass is also sometimes called a Bordeaux wine glass. BUT, not pinot noir nor burgundy wines. No, these wines get their own glass now, as big as a fish bowl. And there is the Washingtonian Pinot Noir glass AND the Oregonian Pinot Noir glass. These types of glasses are also called Burgungy wine glasses and are designed to direct the wine to the tip of the drinker's tongue.

A gin and tonic is a highball drink and is served in a highball glass on the rocks with a lime wedge and a cocktail straw.

A standard shot is 1 1/4ozs, though may be larger or smaller depending on how generous or cheap your boss is, or how carefully they watch you.

As far as pipes and optics go, I have no idea what you are talking about. Pipes to me can mean the pipes for the tap beers, which are important to keep clean 'cause stuff grows in them. This 'stuff' can interupt the flow of beer causing excessive head/foam to form, or sometimes it can break loose and flow into a beer and make it look like some blew a BIG black booger into your customers beer. Not good. Pipes can also refer to your drainage system, which if not cleaned can clog and back up on you.

Optics? no clue.
