is this a good scope for 1000+ yard shooting, with a 7.62x51 NATO chambered bolt action rifle?

The Leupold Mark IV is the standard scope for the Barrett M82A1 w/scope package. So yes, you can use it for 1000yr shooting...although I suggest more power. Another really good scope is Nightforce. I don't personally have one on my Barrett but I have shot friends 50cal rifles with one and their nice.
