Beeman r1 / hw80 air rifle?
hey my uncle is going to get a beeman r1 in .22 and he will also be getting a scope and these are the suggestions, which one is the best
.Leapers Scope.
3-9x40 or
3-9x50 or
4-16x50
also will it have enough power to kill a crow or rabbit, and what are the best pellets to use in .22
and is the beeman r1 (exactly) the same as the HW80
IMO a much better scope for the Beeman R1 would be an RWS 300 4x32AO($75.99)
http://www.airgunsbbguns.com
That's a great price, the scope usually sells for almost twice that.
I would also suggest an RWS one piece lock down mount
http://www.midwayusa.com
Part # 348187($29.99)
That's far and away the best price I have found, $55+ is the norm.
You're going to have a very difficult time finding a better scope/mount combination for anywhere near those prices.
I prefer the Beeman R1 in .177 since we're talking about a 16-17ft-lb rifle.
>>Kill a crow or a rabbit<<
The Beeman R1 has the power and accuracy to take a rabbit out to around 50 yards...I would cut that range down some for crows, just because wadcutters don't carry their velocity as well as dome pellets. >I've taken a number of rabbits with the R1, but never shot at a crow with one
The Beeman R1 & Weihrauch HW80 are not "exactly" alike
http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/compare.pl?models=567,36&model_type=models
But, they are so nearly identical that they are considered to be equivalent models. Weihrauch builds both, one they put the Beeman name on, and the other their own.
>>Which Leapers scope<<
You're buying a $700 air rifle, >IMO a Hawke 3-9x40AO would be a better choice. But if I had to choose, a Leapers probably a 3-9x40AO scope.
For iron sights, I suggest the Beeman peep sight and a Beeman front sight aperature insert set.
